THE annual barrel race through the streets of Kidlington was one of the highlights of the village calendar.
The teams are pictured waiting to set off from the Kings Arms, Gosford in 1963, with starter Trevor Williams, wearing a sombrero, false moustache and sideburns, ready to send them on their way.
Old Southfieldians won the race for the third year in a row, arriving at the Kings Arms, Kidlington four yards ahead of the team from the Britannia pub. Gosford All Blacks rugby team were third.
