A public hearing will be held next month on controversial plans for a 60-bed care home behind Mably Way Health Centre, Wantage.

Centre GPs said the move will prevent the building expanding to meet the needs of a growing population.

And Vale of White Horse District Council refused planning permission in May on the grounds that it would be “prejudicial to the demonstrable future healthcare provision of the area”.

But developer Ashley House has appealed to the independent Planning Inspectorate, which will hold a hearing from 10am on Tuesday, November 12, at the council’s offices in Abbey Place, Abbey Close, Abingdon.
