THE picture of the bells for Cassington Church brought back a memory (October 9).
It was a Sunday morning in 1968. I was in the ‘new’ Thames Valley Police control room on the top floor of the Kidlington Headquarters, when I received a 999 call from a lady, in Cassington, asking police to stop the ringing of the bells.
We couldn’t help, but they stopped when the service began.
