A-BRA Cadabra! An Abingdon charity will be attempting to break the world record for the most bras put on and removed in one minute.

Against Breast Cancer (ABC) has laid down the challenge as part of its fundraising Splash of Pink Day next Saturday.

From 10am, Abingdon Market Place will be filled with stalls, food and drink and live entertainment.

There will be performances by Abingdon Operatic Society, Abingdon Community Choir ACCord and saxophone quartet Abbey Sax.

Volunteer organiser Maggie Ingram, 64, from Didcot said: “This is the second year I have supported the Abingdon Splash of Pink Day, it is a really great day out for all ages and supports a fantastic cause that is close to my heart.”

Visitors can take on the bra challenge between 11am and 2pm when two witnesses will be present to meet Guinness World Records guidelines.

The charity will have selection of bras available for people to use.

The current world record, set in Germany in 2012, stands at nine.

Against Breast Cancer trustee and volunteer Richard Bahu said: “We wanted to do something fun that everyone can take part in, no matter their age, to draw attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and our ground breaking research into the earlier detection of secondary spread breast cancer at University of Westminster in London.”

He added: “I’ve been in training, I’m feeling confident and looking forward to putting it into practice.”

Against Breast Cancer funds a team of researchers studying how the cancer cell, patients’ natural resistance and their environment interact.
