Sex crime reports have increased despite a fall in crime across the region.
Figures released yesterday by the Office for National Statistics show crime dropped by six per cent – from 137,301 in the year before June 2012 to 129,025 in the same period up to June 2013.
Sex crimes went up 14 per cent from 1,888 to 2,159 while household burglaries fell by 19 per cent to 6,805 and violent crime fell by six per cent to 19.574.
