TEENAGERS took to the stage at Didcot Civic Hall to perform a charity concert.

Around 50 youngsters aged 12 to 18 from across Oxfordshire sang with The Musical Youth Company of Oxford (MYCO) last week.

They also handed over £1,500 to Oxford children’s hospice Helen and Douglas House earned from their fundraising efforts over the last year.

The show was Jessica Hunt’s last as part of the company.

The 17-year-old from Abingdon sang her last solo before leaving to concentrate on A-Levels.

She said: “It was the last time I got to sing with the group. I started when I was 12 so it was emotional and very nice.”

But the performance is unlikely to be her last – the Matthew Arnold schoolgirl wants a career in theatre.

Chairwoman of MYCO Julie Fisher said: “The show was wonderful, and parents of a youngster spoke about what the hospice does for their son.

“We encourage our youngsters to think about those who are not so lucky.”
