VILLAGE rangers held a 24-hour sponsored disco in aid of St John Ambulance and raised £60 in 1986 towards a new ambulance.
THE Royal Naval Association’s newest standard was paraded in public for the first time when 300 people turned out to see the village branch formed in 1986. The branch already had 65 members, from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Navy Nurses and Wrens. A dedication service was held at St Mary’s Church and Sir Ashley Ponsonby took the salute.
VISITORS enjoyed fun in the sun at Kidlington Peace Campaign’s first summer fun day in 1986. Attractions on the Evans Lane playing field included a ‘pull-of-peace’ between two teams, children’s theatre, clowns, races, pony trap rides, a roundabout, and stalls and sideshows. The day ended with a barbecue and barn dance.
