A STUNTMAN on Brad Pitt’s latest blockbuster movie was airlifted to hospital yesterday after being stabbed with a bayonet during filming in Oxfordshire.
The 35-year-old professional stuntman, was injured shooting an action sequence with another stuntman on the set of Second World War thriller Fury.
The British man, who has not yet been named, was flown to hospital after the incident on the set of the big-budget movie.
The incident was last night referred to the Health and Safety Executive (SHE) for possible investigation as the wounded stuntman recovered in hospital.
The film, directed by David Ayer and also starring Transformers actor Shia LaBeouf, is being produced by Pinewood Studios.
A spokesman for the film’s production unit confirmed the incident occurred as two stuntmen were filming at a converted farm at Pyrton, near Watlington.
The spokesman added: “It happened during a standalone action sequence that had been rehearsed, but unfortunately there was an accident. The sequence was taking place away from the main unit and neither the director nor any of the principal actors were working on that particular sequence.
“He was injured by a bayonet and has been taken to hospital where we are checking in for information and progress.”
Shooting of the film was not affected by the incident.
