A RETIRED fruit farmer collected 72 different types of apples grown in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell for the village’s Apple Day celebrations.
The bumper harvest was on show at the Red Lion pub, in Main Street, where residents were working the village apple-press on Sunday.
Paul Chilton, 69, said: “Overall we had a very good day. The apple press was in action throughout the day; the children just loved it. Unfortunately it poured with rain, but we had a very enjoyable day anyway.”
Mr Chilton retired 20 years ago after farming 120 acres in the village and 50 acres near High Wycombe.
The village’s fourth Apple Day was organised by resident Alison Bloomfield to commemorate the village’s apple-harvesting history.
