Sir – I wholly agree with Paul Hornby’s letter (October 3) that there should be an urgent judicial review on the proposed Science Oxford building overshadowing our beautiful ancient Mound (or motte) at our castle.

How much more of our ancient city (in which most of our worldwide visitors come to view and enjoy our ancient heritage) is going to be vandalised by putting modern buildings right next to our beautiful, ‘pleasing to the eye’, ancient ones?

The Mound (or motte) goes hand in hand with the ancient Castle Quarter (castle, old prison (now Malmaison Hotel) and even the old County Hall. Why ruin it? Look how the modern County Hall stood right next to the old County Hall — it sticks out like ‘a sore thumb’!

However much you put so-called looking green grass effect on top of this proposed new building, it sucks! Come on, people of Oxford, demand a second thought on Maria Miller’s careless descision that this monstrous building should certainly go to a more modern area.
