IT would add further to road safety and reduce the number of accidents involving cyclists if you were to follow up your photographic survey of motorists’ misdemeanours (October 4), see left, with a similar one on cyclists. This would give support to the police (“We need to educate cyclists about safety” – June 14); to one of our local MPs who is asking Oxford University to provide instruction on safe cycling for students; to the county council which provides such instruction; and to cycling champion Laura Trott, quoted in a national newspaper on August 3, saying: “It’s not always the car’s fault.”

Cyclists need to help themselves.
