A 37-year-old man suffocated himself to death a week after receiving confirmation of his divorce, an inquest heard. Choudhry Tahir Imtiaz, of Evenlode, Banbury, was found dead in his bedroom on July 7 by firefighters.
The inquest at Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court heard on Wednesday that his sister-in-law Shabina Jawed called the emergency services after his brother Amer Imtiaz found a note on Tahir Imtiaz’s door that read ‘Call 999’.
A note was also discovered in Mr Imtiaz’s room, in the house he shared with the couple, which read: “I, Tahir Imtiaz, blame no-one for this action.
“No-one is involved.”
Oxfordshire assistant coroner Nicholas Graham recorded a verdict of suicide.
