LITTLE Saisha-Indiana Davies will be going on her first holiday after winning the Oxford Mail Baby of the Year competition.

The youngster from South Oxford captured the hearts of readers and proud mum Gemma Davies said she was “overwhelmed” her daughter, now 10 months old, had won.

Ms Davies, partner Luke Robinson, 28, and baby Saisha-Indiana have won a one week holiday up to the value of £1,000 courtesy of Vauxhall Holiday Park, as well as a canvas print of the winning photo and a trophy, courtesy of Fraser Portraits.

Full-time mum-of-one Ms Davies told the Oxford Mail: “I just cannot believe it, I am overwhelmed, I just didn’t think she had a chance because there were so many babies in the competition.”

The 30-year-old added: “She is a perfect baby, I cannot fault her, she is a perfect little angel. She is always smiling.”

More than 5,400 votes were cast by phone, text and coupon in this year’s competition for the 283 entries.

Headington full-time mum-of-one Emma Harris said both she and partner Bobby Charlett, 23, were chuffed that their two-year-old son Bobby Charlett was runner up.

The 21-year-old said: “All the kids that went in the paper this year are all gorgeous.

“I am over the moon that he has come runner up.”

Full-time mum-of-one Rebecca Odley, from Wotton, Abingdon, said both she and Dale Wright, 23, couldn’t believe that their 11-month-old daughter Mya Wright was also runner up.

The 21-year-old said: “I couldn’t believe it, all the babies were all so cute. “I think for me it wasn’t about winning, it was seeing her in the paper. “It is good fun to participate.”

She added: “To all the mums that entered, their children are winners anyway.”

The two runners-up have won their families a three to four day break up to the value of £500 courtesy of Vauxhall Holidays and a canvas print of their photo and a trophy courtesy of Fraser Portraits.

Oxford Mail promotions manager Jo Coady said: “It was great to have so many entries in this year’s contest.

“This meant the competition was really tough so congratulations to our winner and runners up.”
