A LETTING agent could not account for keys to a flat where £500,000 worth of drugs had been found, a court heard.

Mark Johnson, of Weymann Terrace, Cowley, and Michael Krah, of Stowford Road, Barton, Oxford, both deny conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine and cannabis between July 1 and July 26, 2010.

Landlord Raymond Duckett found a large quantity of drugs inside black plastic bags, rucksacks and a cardboard box hidden in his empty rental flat in Reliance Way, Cowley.

The defendants’ fingerprints were found on the plastic bags and 36-year-old Krah’s DNA was discovered inside a glove found with the drugs.

On the fourth day of the trial at Oxford Crown Court yesterday, Dc Ian Spencer said he contacted Beehive Lettings, which managed the property, to find out how many sets of keys there were.

Justine Davidge, prosecuting, said: “Did you ask how many sets of keys Beehive had for the house in Reliance Way?”

Dc Spencer replied: “Yes.”

Miss Davidge asked: “Were they able to account for all the keys?”

Dc Spencer said: “No, there was one set they couldn’t account for.”

He added that a few months later the owner of the agency told him the set of keys had returned.

The jury also heard part of Johnson’s police interview, conducted on December 7, 2010.

In it he said: “I’m not part of any conspiracy and I don’t know how my fingerprints got on a black bag in that house in Reliance Way.”

The trial continues.
