POLICE dished out 30 fines for driving offences during a safety check on the A4074 near Berinsfield yesterday.

One man stopped using a mobile phone had no driving licence, no insurance, and a wheel on the car was so worn the inner cord was exposed.

The vehicle was seized by police, who were in place on the Berinsfield roundabout between 8am and 10am.

Ten fines were issued for using mobile phones, four were issued for not wearing seatbelts and one for no licence.

Five vehicles had no road tax, three vehicles had no MoT test certificate. All offences carried a £60 penalty.

Three vehicles had no insurance which resulted in a £200 fine, six penalty points on the driver's licences and the seizure of the cars.

Four cars had defective tyres, resulting in a £60 fine and three penalty points.
