REAL ale enthusiasts will raise a glass and funds for charity at an annual beer festival in Witney’s parish church.

The Witney Beer Festival, at St Mary’s Church in Church Green on Saturday, runs from noon until 10pm.

It will feature 30 different beers from local brewers, a hog roast and live music throughout the day.

The event will raise money for the restoration appeal at St Mary’s Church and Witney Round Table. Last year it made about £5,000.

Round Table member James Mills said: “Last year, because it was the first festival, we were not quite sure what to expect. We were very happily surprised by the large number of people that came along, which led to us running out of beer by 7pm.

“I would strongly advise people, if they want to avoid disappointment and fully enjoy everything the festival has to offer, to get there early.”
