DRIVERS are being warned to expect delays in Oxford again today as emergency work to repair a gas leak continues.
There was heavy traffic in Botley Road yesterday because of temporary three-way traffic lights at the junction with Ferry Hinksey Road, where the work started at about 8am yesterday.
It is expected that the work will be completed today but a further 24 hours is needed to resurface the road, so the lights may be in place still on Friday.
Chloe Boyce, Southern Gas Networks spokeswoman, said: “The work could hit Wednesday evening. Drivers should allow extra time for their journey or make alternative arrangements.
“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience.”
Yesterday morning it was taking motorists half an hour to get from the A34 junction at the Botley interchange down to Ferry Hinksey Road.
On why there was no warning of the works, Ms Boyce said: “It was an urgent job so we needed to go and do it.”
