WHAT a difference 50 years makes!
This was the scene in Cornmarket Street, Oxford, on May 23, 1961.
It was busier than usual because it was the Saturday of the Whitsun holiday weekend.
Cornmarket was then a major route for local as well as long-distance traffic.
With cars queuing bumper to bumper, shoppers had to tread warily crossing the road.
