A DRIVER suffered cuts to his hands after a pedestrian attacked him with a machete in Oxford.

Police were called to Crowell Road, Cowley, on Friday afternoon following reports that a man had been attacked.

The 27-year-old man was driving along Crowell Road at about 2.50pm when a pedestrian approached his vehicle weilding the machete.

The offender was able to slash the victim’s hands with the machete before running away.

Police refused to say how the attacker was able to get to the driver while in his car.

Thames Valley Police investigating officer Det Insp John Turner said: “We would like to reassure the public that this was not a random attack as we believe the victim and the offender are known to each other. We would urge anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident to contact the police immediately.”
