A driver in Oxford has been hurt in a machete attack.

Thames Valley Police officers are appealing for witnesses following an incident in Cowley yesterday.

At about 2.53pm, the victim, a 27-year-old man, was driving along Crowell Road when his vehicle was approached by a pedestrian wielding the machete.

The offender struck the victim, who suffered cuts to his hands. The attacker then ran off.

Det Insp John Turner, who is investigating the incident, said: ”We would like to reassure the public that this was not a random attack as we believe the victim and the offender know each other.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident to contact the police immediately.”
