JAMES Turner grabs his brother Joshua’s ear as the miracle babies huddle together.

Not just any identical twins, they are brothers to identical twins Lauren and Emily, all born to the same parents at the same time as quads.

Doctors at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital have spoken of their delight.

The clinical director for newborn care services at Oxford University Hospitals Trust, Dr Eleri Adams, said two sets of identical twins had never before been delivered at the hospital.

She said: “We are delighted that after a short period of intensive care, the quads are now back closer to home with mum and dad.”

Parents Julian and Sharon Turner, from Berkshire, went through four rounds of IVF treatment to conceive.

Mrs Turner developed complications in pregnancy and doctors gave the couple a life-or-death choice.

An emergency caesarean was carried out on March 30, as the quads were born 11 weeks prematurely and placed in intensive care.

They are currently at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

In the case of the Turners, two eggs were fertilised and then both decided to split before they were implanted, the odds of which are roughly one in 70 million.
