A BURGLAR who stole items including a camera and digital recorder from a building he cleaned has been given a suspended 12-week jail sentence.
Damian Stankiewicz, 32, of Pipley Furlong, Littlemore, a cleaner at the Old Music Hall in Cowley Road, East Oxford, used his keys to enter the building to steal a camera, digital recorder, battery and memory cards worth £1,134 from an office, last August 4.
At Oxford Crown Court on Thursday, John Waller, defending, said Stankiewicz’s convictions were due to a problem with alcohol and his addiction had to be tackled.
The court heard he had five other convictions in 11 months. Stankiewicz, who now works in a factory, was given a supervision requirement for 12 months and ordered to complete a six month’s alcohol awareness and treatment course. He was also ordered to pay £1,000 compensation.
His sentence was suspended for two years.
