A resident has been taken to hospital after smoke was seen coming from flats in St Clement's, Oxford
Fire crews were called to the scene at around 8.30am today after the smoke was spotted.
Two fire engines from Slade Park and Rewley Road Fire Stations attended.
All occupiers at the flats had evacuated before their arrival and were alerted by the smoke alarm sounding.
But one tenant was taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.
Firefighters tackled the fire and contained the damage to one bedroom, using one hose reel and breathing apparatus.
Firefighter Nik Brown said: “The smoke alarms ultimately saved the lives of the occupiers of the flats, they did their job and raised the alarm which allowed everyone to evacuate the building safely.”
