SOME creatives go above and beyond for their art.

Adam Wozniak went back and sides.

The 23-year-old Oxford student had his locks shorn before making them into a brush – which he then used to paint what he described as an “avant-garde expressionist piece in the style of Jackson Pollock” in front of a live audience.

Mr Wozniak, originally from Dubai, said the work demonstrated the artist’s “true inextricability from his work”.

About 40 people turned up to watch the show at the Ruskin School of Fine Art in Oxford on Monday.

Mr Wozniak said: “The work is a continuation of a few previous live painting performances, one of which occurred in the 03 Gallery Oxford.

“These followed similar set-ups in which the artist used a mop to create a work, live in front of an audience.”

He cited Buster Keaton’s tragic comedian as inspiration, and played upon ideas of rebirth and renewal.

The brush will be used in the upcoming Ruskin Degree Show from June 14 to 16.

The painting he created will also be shown around this time.

Mr Wozniak is compiling a film from live recordings of the event that will be posted online.
