HOW nice to see the thousands of people, young and the not so young, taking part in the London Marathon.

Once again many are raising lots of money for their various charities and other good causes.

The overall distance is 26.2 miles, without a pothole in sight to trip over.

What a contrast to the city in which we live.

After a long day, people who went to London to either participate or just to watch the event must have been tired.

If they had travelled by bus, I’m sure they would welcome a sit down or even drop off to sleep on the homeward journey, only to be awakened by the potholes when they entered Oxford on the London Road, Headington.

Welcome back to the real world we live in and the other marathon that the council has filling in the many potholes throughout our city.
