I WAS thrilled and delighted to read of the latest ‘takeover’ of the Oxford City Football Club.

However, don’t let’s get carried away until something concrete really happens.

I can remember, with other former members of the club, buying shares which actually came to nothing, in spite of all the intentions of those then in charge of its future.

Let us wait and see – I really hope that things materialise in this lovely, little friendly club.

I was one of the instigators of its revival and re-forming after the sale of the old White House Ground (what memories of that era).

Although I do not now go ‘down to the City’, it still has my support in its success.

It really deserves to go further forward than it has done in recent years.

Since the appointment of Brian Cox and the strenuous efforts of Colin Taylor (not forgetting Fordy of course), it has made tremendous strides forward.

Long may it prosper – what a great little club!
