ADVENTURERS from across the country will be descending on the woods of Oxfordshire this weekend for 48 intense hours of running, mountain biking and kayaking.

It’s the first time the Q2 Quest Challenge – part of the Questar adventure race series – is being held in the county. About 120 participants are expected to compete in the challenge at Youlbury Wood, Boars Hill, near Oxford.

Questar employee Martyn Ward said it was an “ideal site” because competitors could camp overnight, adding: “We get people of all ages. We had a father and son compete once, and a young couple with their child.”

Registered participants can compete individually or in teams of up to four people.

The task is to reach a range of checkpoints in each of the three disciplines. Each checkpoint has a value and the winner is whoever gains the most points within the time limit.
