RESIDENTS had a lucky escape when a car smashed into the side of their house.

A Renault Clio went sideways into the extension of a house in Freehold Street, Lower Heyford, near Bicester, pictured, at 4am on Sunday.

The driver was trapped in the car and had to be cut out by firefighters.

The motorist was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital with minor injuries and suspected concussion. No-one else was injured.

Police spokesman Elizabeth Hill said the car could not be removed until it has been assessed by engineers.

She said: “The car was left in situ to allow for an assessment by structural engineers and insurance companies.”

No-one was available at the property last night.
