ROBBERS stole a "significant" amount of cash after attacking a security guard who was delivering the money to a bank in Oxford today.

At around 3pm two men, one wearing a high visibility jacket, pulled the in-transit guard to the ground near a bank branch in Cowley Road.

They stole a cash container from him and fled on foot. The victim was left with minor injuries to his hand. No weapons were involved in the incident.

The two offenders are described as black men, around 6ft tall. One man was wearing a luminous high visibility jacket and the other was wearing all black.

Police are asking anyone who was in the Cowley Road this afternoon and witnessed this incident but has not yet contacted police to come forward as a matter of urgency through the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
