MUSIC lovers were given a special present this weekend.
Cowley Road’s Truck Store hosted an all-day gig, headlined by indie rock legends The Wedding Present, to celebrate Record Store Day on Saturday.
After the gig, audience member Dave Robson tweeted lead singer David Gedge, pictured front, to ask him if the band would be playing this year’s Truck Festival in Steventon, to which Mr Gedge replied: “Err, we’d need to be invited first”.
Other bands playing on Saturday were Wild Swim, Empty White Circles and the Brickwork Lizards.
In Witney meanwhile, Truck’s sister-store Rapture organised six of its favourite local bands to perform outside in the Woolgate shopping centre.
Kicking the celebrations off at midday were folk-pop quartet Runaway from Henry Box School.
They were followed by The August List, Signal My Escape, and Traps – normally a heavy rock band who stepped out of their comfort zone to play an acoustic set.
