A COMMUNITY shop and Post Office in Bicester has reopened after a £187,000 makeover.

The Co-op, in Bassett Avenue, which also houses a Post Office counter, was closed for six months. It has been fitted with new energy-saving lighting and fridges and freezers to reduce energy consumption by up to 50 per cent.

Children from Southwold School, Holm Square, helped cut the ribbon to celebrate the store’s re-opening.

Deputy store manager Lisa Sephton said: “It’s great to open the doors to our newly-renovated store, with the schoolchildren really adding to the celebrations.

“Many of our customers commented on how much they liked the new layout and the products on offer.”
