A GRADE one listed church that needs to raise £1.5m for repairs has organised a series of fundraising events.
St John the Evangelist in Iffley Road needs the cash to repair the church’s roof and for other building improvements.
The church has already raised £900,000 on top of the £1.5m needed for building works and has used part of the money to pay for underfloor heating and new chairs.
Pianist Sholto Kynoch, artistic director of the Oxford Lieder festival, will perform pieces by Beethoven, Schubert and Chopin from 7.30pm at the next fundraiser on Friday. Tickets start at £12.
A total of £3,000 was raised following a gig by rock band Caravan earlier this month. Visit sje-oxford.org for details.
