SIGNS of spring are in the air this week in Oxfordshire as warmer weather hits the county.

Higher temperatures were felt across the county over the weekend, reaching 17.7C at Benson at 2pm yesterday, making it the warmest day so far this year.

And the characteristic April weather looks set to continue, according to Met Office forecaster Tony Burgess.

He said: “You’re going to get some rain or showers but the level of rainfall is not going to be that exceptional.

“Temperatures will be back up to what they should be this time of year, reaching 14 to 15C.

“For the week as a whole for the whole area you’re probably only looking at 10 to 15mm of rainfall.”

Environment Agency spokesman Hayley Willoughby said the organisation didn’t have major concerns about flooding.

She said: “There is a bit of rain expected, but the most we’re expecting is about 12mm on Wednesday.

“The rivers will obviously respond to that but we have no major concerns.”
