With its story Pressure mounts over flats, on March 29, the Oxford Mail photographs buildings purported to be student flats, creating a hideous backdrop to the scenic view of popular walking spot Port Meadow.
But they are no such thing. Shame on the Oxford Mail!
They are in fact communist workers’ flats, built in east Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Because it’s hardly likely that any responsible authority anywhere would create such monstrosities to damage Oxford, the historical city of Dreaming Spires!
