SURELY any intelligent life would think more than twice about invading planet earth or, to be a little more specific, the city of Oxford?

My sarcasm is based on the recent snow/rain. To be fair, there wasn’t a substantial amount but, guess what, the areas (for which we council tax payers had to cough up vast amounts of money and in which we’ve endured weeks/months of disruption so that we could have better 21st-century roads and drainage systems) flooded!

I refer to the Cowley retail park and, again, the junction of Headley Way and London Road.

What is going on when the contractors who are employed leave us with worse roads than we had before?

Surely the council or surveyors who oversee the works can pick up on this?

Or is it “because we’re British” and we have to put up with this poor standard?

I have noticed that three additional areas of road damage have now surfaced near the Sainsbury’s Heyford area.

Recently I read an article in the Oxford Mail that filled me with confidence that another vast amount of money was going to be found to fix our poor roads.

My question to the appropriate people is: why are we paying again to have our roads repaired when money has already been spent on them, and are the original contractors going to foot the bill?

It frustrates me. Surely someone from the council must read the Oxford Mail, and I would be more than happy to meet with them to have them explain why we’re having these problems, year after year.

Or can I suggest we wait till the ‘Intelligent Ones’ invade and ask them?
