POLICE are not treating the death of a 49-year-old woman who fell from a bridge over the A40 yesterday as suspicious.
Officers believe that the woman, who is from the Wheatley area of Oxford, fell from the Holton bridge on to the Oxford-bound carriageway at 12.38am.
She was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics.
The A40 was closed following the incident and reopened at about 6am.
Investigating officer Sgt Michael Bettington, from Thames Valley Police, said: “I would appeal to motorists who may have been travelling along this stretch of the A40 at this time, or pedestrians who may have been using the Holton overbridge to contact police.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
