“THE right person at the right time to make Britain great again. You will be remembered.”

Those were the words left in memory of Baroness Thatcher by councillor David Wilmshurst, pictured, in a book of condolence at County Hall.

The Conservative Oxfordshire County Council member for Thame and Chinnor left his tribute at the council’s Oxford HQ. The book, inset, will be open to sign until the former Prime Minister’s funeral on Wednesday.

Baroness Thatcher, 87, died at the Ritz Hotel in London on Monday following a stroke.

Mr Wilmshurst said: “I can recall the state that the country was in, it was in turmoil. We were certainly not a leading power.

“She had to make some difficult decisions, they were not always popular but she went ahead with them. As a result of that we are largely where we are today.”

Cherwell District Council also has books of condolence in its Bicester and Banbury offices until the funeral.
