A TEENAGER who was killed after he was struck by a train in Bicester has been named locally as Marcus Rawlings.

The incident happened at about 1.20pm on Monday near the bridge carrying the line over the A4095 Howes Lane at the north-west edge of the town.

Tributes have been paid to the 19-year-old on social networking site Twitter.

One said: “R.I.P Marcus Rawlings. You were great fun to work with, you will be sorely missed. #rip #waytooyoung.”

Another said: “Very sad day for many, R.I.P Marcus. #neverforgotten.”

And a third said: “I am honestly beyond devastated for my brother and his mates right now.

“Lost one of their gang R.I.P Marcus Rawlings 1994 – 08.04.2013 xxxxx”

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

South Central Ambulance Service spokesman James Keating-Wilkes said paramedics were sent to the scene but the man was dead when they arrived.

An inquest has yet to be opened.
