RISING star Fatuma Odwar glided gracefully across the ice rink during a figure skating demonstration.
The North Oxford 16-year-old was just one of the skaters at Oxford Ice Rink on Friday who demonstrated their skills to encourage others to take up the sport.
Fatuma, who practises at the rink in Oxpens Road four times a week, said: “I have been skating since I was nine or 10.
“I like how artistic it is and I like how it is different in so many ways.”
The Oxford & Cherwell Valley College student said: “People think it is a girly sport but it can be rough and you have to take a lot of time out to practise.”
Different groups of ice skaters performed, including members of the Oxford Figure Ice Skating Club.
