A SERIAL offender from Oxford was told he had only himself to blame for wasting a chance given him by a judge.

Kyle Chadbone was jailed for five months at Oxford Crown Court on Friday after twice breaching a suspended sentence for possessing cannabis.

The 20-year-old has previous convictions for common assault, criminal damage and theft. He was given an antisocial behaviour order aged 16 excluding him from Barton.

In January last year he was handed a six-month sentence, suspended for 18 months, after he tried to pawn goods stolen in a burglary.

Last November he admitted possessing 14 bags of cannabis and was told by Judge Gordon Risius he had five months to “stay out of trouble”.

But on February 13 this year he was again caught with 13 bags of the drug in his room at Windmill House, in Windmill Road, Headington.

Daniel Wright, defending, said: “There has been a marked change in Mr Chadbone’s attitude in 2013.”

But Judge Risius said he had no choice but to activate four months of the suspended sentence.

He also gave Chadbone one month for each cannabis possession charge, to run at the same time as each other but consecutive with the four months.

He said: “You have only yourself to blame for the position you are now in.”
