A LANDLADY thanked regulars who helped clean up after her pub caught fire.
The roof of the 17th century White Horse in Duns Tew, near Deddington, had to be dismantled when a chimney fire got out of control.
Sarah Inwood said: “The customers were in here at 8am on Sunday helping to clean up. I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done.”
She also praised the 25 firefighters who tackled the blaze at the Grade II listed building at about 7.30pm on Saturday, when the pub was open.
Firefighters used ladders to remove sections of the roof to stop the blaze spreading. The damage was mostly confined to the roof and the pub was open for business as usual yesterday.
Four fire engines, a hydraulic platform ladder and a salvage vehicle attended from Deddington, Banbury, Kidlington and Eynsham.
