STAFF at a delivery firm in Bicester have helped to raise more than £10,000 for Oxfordshire’s Deaf Children’s Society.

In a series of fundraising events this year, staff at DHL Bicester raised £10,815 for the charity.

To celebrate raising, staff from DHL staged a children’s Easter bonnet competition last week.

Fundraising events included a toy sale, quiz, disco and fantasy Formula 1 competition.

Naomi Martell-Bundock, the society’s chairman, who lives in Finmere, near Bicester, said: “It’s a phenomenal amount of money.”

Ms Martell-Bundock, whose nine-year-old son Solomon is deaf, added: “One of the projects we are looking at is road safety awareness to help children safer on the roads as obviously, even with hearing aids, deaf people can’t hear traffic.”

DHL spokesman Barbara Hall said: “We hope the money we have raised will help to improve facilities for the children.”
