CAPTAIN Pugwash was a favourite TV character and pupils were no doubt thrilled to see author John Ryan draw his picture during a visit to the village primary school in 1991.
The middle picture was taken at the school fete in 1990 and shows seven-year-old James Tipley at the wheel of Marie, a scaled down model of a Fowler steam engine, one of many attractions.
In the bottom picture, the Rev P Tuckwell explains what happens at the church font during a family pram service in 1967.
