Two men are suspected of stealing more than £400 worth of vodka and candles, and punching someone in the face when he tried to stop them.

The pair’s faces have been revealed behind door 21 of the Oxford Mail’s Badvent calendar campaign.

Our Christmas campaign – run in partnership with Thames Valley Police – aims to see wanted men and women arrested before the end of the year.

Police want to speak to this pair after they were caught on CCTV going into the Garden Centre Group – formerly the Wyevale Garden Centre –off the A34 at South Hinksey, at about 5.30pm on Thursday, November 22.

Two men were then seen putting more than £250 worth of candles into a Sports Direct bag, before trying to leave the garden centre without paying.

They were challenged by a member of staff, who was then punchedon the side of his face and twice in the back.

They got away in a silver Vauxhall Insignia.

Police described the first man as Asian and in his mid to late twenties, of slim build and about 5ft 10ins tall.

He was wearing a striped top.

They said the second man was white, more than 6ft tall, wearing thin-framed glasses and wearing a green fleece jumper.

Later the same day, the two men were spotted going into the Waitrose store in Wantage where £211 worth of vodka was stolen.

Investigating officer PC Erica Linton appealed for Oxford Mail readers to come forward if they had seen the men.
