THE hooded man in today’s Badvent frame is thought to have robbed a bookmaker’s at knifepoint and made off with about £2,000 in cash.
The suspected armed robber’s face has been revealed behind door 19 of the Oxford Mail and Thames Valley Police’s special Badvent calendar.
The Christmas criminal campaign sees the faces of wanted men and women published everyday in the run-up to Christmas in a bid to get readers to come forward with information that could see the suspects arrested.
And today’s seasonal suspect is a man who is wanted in connection with an armed robbery in Banbury in the summer.
His face was caught on CCTV cameras after a man walked into Ladbrokes in Market Place at about 9.30am on Thursday, August 2.
He stood at the counter and pointed a knife towards a woman member of staff before telling her to give him money.
She handed over about £2,000 in cash and the robber casually walked out of the shop.
Police last night said the robber spoke with a deep voice and was wearing a dark jacket and distinctive blue plastic gloves.
Dc Ian Gibbard appealed for help to trace the suspect.
He said: “This incident left the staff member very shaken and we have not been able to track him down so far.
“The offence was a few months ago now but I urge anyone who remembers seeing this man, or who recognises him, to get in touch.”
Call Dc Gibbard on 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
The Badvent calendar has seen four men arrested – one taken back to prison and the others charged with assault, burglary, and shoplifting.
Callers have also come forward with information about at least four others.
