A TROUPE of Oxford dancers has launched a rallying call for people to sign up to a charity dance contest.
The British Red Cross will hold the Oxfordshire heat of Dance: Make Your Move at Abingdon School in June 2013.
Groups choreograph a dance routine reflecting an aspect of the charity’s work, from first aid to disaster response.
Oxford’s Strawberry Fayre Majorettes have been supporting the contest for several years and have registered to take part in next summer’s competition.
Majorette Jessica Hitchock, 14, of Blackbird Leys, said: “Dance: Make Your Move is inspiring as it involves lots of different styles of dance that tell a story.
“It helps raise money for those who need it the most.”
Since 2006, more than 16,000 people have taken part in the contest, raising £250,000 for the British Red Cross.
Community fundraiser Cheryl Tree said: “This year we hope to raise even more money for vulnerable people in crisis in the UK and overseas.”
