POLICE stopped drivers to find out more about the crash that killed cyclist Dave Parris in Bicester.

Mr Parris, 48, died following the collision between his bicycle and a silver Ford Escort on the A4421 Neunkirchen Way, near Langford Village, at about 6pm on Tuesday, December 4.

A week after the accident, police returned to the scene of the crash to speak to drivers.

As reported in the Oxford Mail, Mr Parris, from Bicester, worked at Bullingdon Prison, and his family has released a statement saying he would be dearly missed by family and friends.

Insp Paul Winks, of Thames Valley Police road death investigation team, and roads policing officers were at the scene between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday to try to trace witnesses.

Insp Winks said: “I would urge anyone who was in the area last Tuesday evening or regularly commutes along this stretch of road to call us on 101.

“Even if they might think that what they saw was insignificant, it might help us build a clearer picture of last week’s incident.”

Pc Dave Mitchell, of the Bicester-based Joint Roads Policing Unit, added: “If you were passing or driving near this area on Tuesday, December 4, we want to hear from you, as the incident happened at about 5.55pm.”
