A CHARITY box raising money to buy a little girl prosthetic limbs was stolen from the garden of a Barton home.

Martin Scarrott, pictured left, raises money every Christmas for a good cause, by lighting up his home and garden with Christmas decorations for donations.

This year, the North Way resident was aiming to collect about £250 for four-year-old amputee Charlotte Nott.

Charlotte, who lives in Cowley, lost her legs and arms to meningitis as a baby.

The steel box holding the donations was fixed with a metal chain wrapped around it four times, secured to a concrete post and metal fence.

The thief cut through the chains and ran away with the box on December 5.

But it is thought the thief was disturbed because the box was found abandoned nearby.

Mr Scarrott, 47, said: “It is despicable. The money was left in it still but it means we can’t leave it at the end of the drive for people to donate anymore. We have had to move it to underneath CCTV right next to the house.”

Mr Scarrott suffers from sciatica and has limited mobility himself.

Charlotte’s dad, Alex Nott, said: “It is obviously somebody without any morals.”
