The Oxford Mail’s Senior Citizen’s Film Festival sold out again yesterday when it screened Salmon Fishing in The Yemen.
Cinemagoers travelled to the event, staged every year at the Phoenix Picturehouse in Walton Street, Oxford, from Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire.
And according to 77-year-old Iris Owen from High Wycombe: “It’s been the friendliest, most enjoyable event and I’m so glad I came along.”
A sentiment echoed by Maureen Butler, 69, from Swindon, who said: ”It’s made for a wonderful day out and everyone has been so chatty.”
Matt Taylor, manager of the Phoenix, said: “It’s incredible people have travelled in to watch these films from as far away as Berkshire.
“And thanks to the additional support we’ve received this year from Sainsbury’s, we’ve also been able to give away some lovely prizes.”
Today’s film, which ends the festival, is The Artist, which starts at 11am.
Your ticket is simply a copy of today’s Oxford Mail – but don’t worry if you forget to take yours along, they’ll be on sale in the foyer.
