DECEMBER 31 Update: The man whose image was released came forward to police following this story and has been eliminated from all investigations. Anyone with information about the theft of the car and sports bag is still asked to call Thames Valley Police.
WITH the New Year looming, whoever stole a car outside a gym in Summertown in August may well think they had got away with it.
On Friday, August 17, between 5.20pm and 6.45pm the victim of the car theft was at a gym in Banbury Road.
But while they were working out, their sports bag was taken from their locker.
The bag contained keys to a silver Vauxhall Meriva which had been stolen from outside the gym.
Pc Laura Mabbott from St Aldate's police station said: “This was a crime from August so whoever did it probably thinks they’ve got away with it now.
“But we want to show that is not the case and we urge the public to help us catch the thief.”
The car was later recovered in Water Eaton Road, Oxford.
Anyone with information should call Pc Mabbott on the police enquiry centre number 101.
So far the faces of nine men and two women have been revealed behind the doors of our Badvent calendar.
